Kyra as a good and dutiful scammer – sorry, prospecting daughter-in-law to be – is cleaning and sweeping the bedroom of the man she “loves”. His mother, Madam Gold is so impressed and commends her efforts.
They get talking about the past. Ben, Madam Gold’s son once proposed to Kyra before going abroad for his PhD but Kyra rejected his proposal. Madam Gold asked her why she rejected it and Kyra said that she was young and dumb. Madam Gold responds with a “Well, thank God for growth” or something like that.
Ben arrives and Kyra rushes to hug him before his own mama does. Like girl, calm down. Not like you wanted him like that in the first place. Chill.
But Madam Gold didn’t mind. She also gets to hug her son and calls him a doctor.
On the other side of town, Ajah to be specific, Sarah just entered Lagos as a JJC, ready and willing to work. Before she even stretches her legs, her “friend”, Tracy asks for rent money which Sarah pays.
The next day, Sarah sets out to look for a job. Day and night she toils for weeks and after a month she finally lands a job at an expensive and popular restaurant. The restaurant is owned by Madam Gold.
On Sarah’s first day, Sade, a waitress at the restaurant is rude to her while the manager tests her by making her serve their most difficult customer.
Back at Madam Gold’s house, Kyra the pick-me is folding herself like a pretzel to get a proposal from Ben who isn’t feeling her anymore. But Aunty wants to quench there.
As Sarah continues to work at the restaurant, the customers love her and Sade’s jealousy grows like an aggressive form of cancer. The manager also becomes a problem being that he is a sexual predator.
The man asks Sarah out several times. However, when he realises that Sarah is not interested, he becomes very mean to Sarah.
One day, Madam Gold visits the restaurant. Sarah not knowing that she is the owner goes to attend to her like should would a customer. After asking questions like a customer, Madam Gold tells them to inform the manager to call her.
Sarah learns from Sade that Madam Gold owns the restaurant. At the close of work that day, the manager gives each of them a reposting letter: Sade and the other guy would remain at the Lekki branch while Sarah was transferred to the Apapa branch.
For a week or thereabout, Sarah is forced to bear roadblock traffic every day just to go to and come back from work. Madam Gold visits the Apapa branch, this time with Ben and while talking to Sarah, she realises that the Apapa branch is too far a journey for Sarah. So, Madam Gold calls the Lekki manager – that dog – to repost Sarah to the Lekki branch and not change her place of primary assignment without letting her (Madam Gold) know.
At home, Ben is smiling and Madam Gold inquires about the reason for his smile. He says that was the first time he witnessed somebody (Sarah) standing up to his mother. Madam Gold smiles and says she was impressed as well.
Sarah resumes at the Lekki branch and Sade welcomes her with a bitchy attitude. Ben begins visiting the Lekki restaurant more often with his friend. His friend would ask Sarah to suggest a nice meal and wine combo for him which she would. Other times, he asks her about marketing and Sarah answers.
Impressed with her knowledge, Ben offers to pay Sarah 50,000 naira to be his personal assistant. It would be her second job. She takes the job.
One night, Ben returns home and aspiring trad wife, Kyra throws a tantrum. She cooked (nobody sent her) and waited for Ben to return so that they eat together. She goes to bed angry and when Ben tries to reconcile the next morning with breakfast in bed, “hanty Kiki” was threw another tantrum because Ben hasn’t proposed to her yet.
Kyra, in anger, packs her bags and returns to her father’s house (thank God oh. I was starting to think that she was homeless). While she is away, the mouse that is Ben comes out to play because that one night Kyra was away, Ben spent it with Sarah. They drank wine all night and before you know it, it was kissing tins happening.
Kyra then finally returns oh (na wa oh. Ben prick choke sha) and the first thing out of her mouth was “I was waiting for you to come find me” (heLL hO heLL). She notices that Ben is different – as if he has a new woman.
That was how Madam Kyra went snooping and she found out that Sarah had been oiling Oga Ben’s engine. “Hanty Kiki” was not happy. She then finds where Sarah lives and makes a deal with Tracy.
Days go by and Ben starts noticing that he is losing items. He complains to his mum and then even to Sarah. One day, when he was to sign a deal with a certain woman, the woman reached for her bag to collect her purse where she kept her pen. She couldn’t find her purse. After a thorough search was done on everyone, the purse was found in Sarah’s bag.
The police are called and they go to Sarah’s flat to search for Ben’s items which they see there. Sarah is arrested while Ben becomes a shadow of himself. He doesn’t eat, leave his bed or talk to anyone for three weeks.
After three weeks, Sarah is released from jail. She returns to the flat she shares with Tracy but finds her bags packed. Tracy throws her out calling her a thief.
Tracy becomes greedy and starts blackmailing Kyra but Kyra doesn’t budge. She even threatens Tracy, so Tracy calls her bluff by paying her a visit at Madam Gold’s house.
The two women argue, secrets are spilled and Ben hears them. He arrests both women plus Sade and goes on a search to find Sarah. Sadly, he couldn’t find her. He eventually does though at a bar he went to have a drink.
He begs for her forgiveness and also reveals that despite not fighting for her, he believed her and that was why he bailed her from jail. They reconcile. The end.

I give it 🍽️🍽️🍽️
This movie wasn’t my cup of tea but I do respect the work they put in when it came to world-building. They made sure to show and not tell.
They showed Sarah job hunting.
They showed Sarah at her place of work.
They showed her at the Apapa branch.
The self-contain flat Sarah lived in with Tracy looked exactly like where someone with an 80,000 naira salary and many dependents would live in.
I respect that.
