Full Story
This sequel takes place six months after the events of Part 1. The whole family has gone for therapy, Ella is now doing her NYSC, and Seb is no longer a fraudster. He now owns a shop where he sells stuff.
As part of their healing process, Michael (their therapist) advises that they find their mother, Rose and reconnect with her. Ella does it: she finds Rose and brings her home with the help of Mide.
Rose had been in prison for a while for stealing and she was just recently released. When she arrives, Cynthia is hesitant while Seb wants nothing to do with her. Ella, on the other hand, is barely at home because she is too busy being in love and staying over at Mide’s (who by the way relocated to Lagos).
Rose tries her best to earn her children’s trust, but none wants anything to do with her. However, due to constant loneliness, Cynthia eventually cracks and slowly begins to form a bond with Rose.
Mide gets an unexpected visitor, Anastasia or Ana for short. She is a childhood friend who became his girlfriend and is now an ex-girlfriend. Ana meets Ella at home and immediately thinks she is a maid due to her looks but Ella immediately marks her territory.
Mide returns from work and asks Ana to stay in a hotel but she strong-arms Ella into allowing her to stay. Ella leaves Mide’s place and returns to home. To her surprise, Cynthia and Rose are now cool and Rose cooks for the home.
Ella gets a call from Mide to come back because he misses her, which she does but Ana is not too pleased with her presence. She resorts to being passive-aggressive which makes Ella uncomfortable. Mide informs Ella that Michael now has a new girlfriend and would want them to go on a double date.
During the date, Michael praises Ella for being an amazing person, which makes Mide jealous and snappy. Michael’s girlfriend notices the tension and excuses herself, saying she needs to use the restroom. Ella does the same and they meet in the restroom.
There, Ella explains to Michael’s girlfriend that Michael was her therapist and he knows a lot about her. Michael’s girlfriend seems cool with that explanation and they return to the boys. However, something weird happens: Michael’s girlfriend can’t find her phone and when Michael calls her number, her phone rings in Ella’s bag.
Ella is surprised while Mide is embarrassed. Michael covers for Ella and lies that he found his girlfriend’s phone under the table. Mide then storms off angrily. Later on, however, Michael’s girlfriend remembers that she was the one who placed the phone in Ella’s bag when hers wouldn’t open.
Michael then begs her to call Ella to explain and that he would tell her why he had to lie to her about the phone. Despite being confused, Michael’s girlfriend makes the call anyway but it is a little too late.
Mide was already angry and said hurtful things to Ella, calling her an embarrassment amongst other things. Ella is hurt and leaves for home, ignoring Mide’s calls after that.
When Ella returns home, she notices a bunch of new items in Cynthia’s bedside drawer. When she lays them out, Cynthia says that Rose bought them for her but Ella calls her naive which irritates Cynthia.
Ella ignores Cynthia though and faces Rose, calling her a bad mother, a liar and an unrepentant thief. Braiding people’s hair is not enough to buy the things she is buying for Cynthia. Seb returns to meet them and carries Ella into his bedroom.
Later, after Ella had slept and woken up, Ella apologises for bringing Rose. She says it was a mistake she wants to rectify by kicking Rose out. They do a vote, Ella and Seb vote for Rose to leave while Cynthia votes for her to stay. The older two concede but tell her that she would be responsible for whatever the outcome may be.
Mide begs Cynthia to help him with Ella which she does but Ana ruins things again. While feeling sad and down, Ana hugs Mide and rubs his head – giving the impression that there is more to what is happening.
Ella walks in on them and breaks things off with Mide, stating they clearly don’t trust each other. This exasperates Mide and he throws Ana out of his home. Ella returns home heartbroken and crying. Rose sees it as an opportunity to get close to Ella and she comforts her, saying that another man would accept her for who and all that she is.
Ella is annoyed by what she says and corrects Rose, expressing that she wants a man who accepts her for the better person she is trying to be. She also urges that Rose should try to be better as well which makes Rose uncomfortable.
Days go by and Mide tries to get back with Ella but to no avail. He even enlists the help of Michael who teases him with “I can’t oh, before you will say I want to steal your girlfriend”. Michael does try to get Ella and Mide back together but Ella doesn’t pick up his calls. Mide then resorts to begging Cynthia to come through for him again.
Cynthia hears a ruckus outside their door and goes to find out. There she sees Rose and a woman fighting. The woman accuses Rose of stealing a ring from her while Rose denies it. Ella already thinks that she did while Cynthia tries to have faith in her. Seb meets them by the stairs still arguing and offers to pay the woman. He too thinks that Rose stole it and he is angry that she hasn’t changed.
Days later, Cynthia finds the ring under her bed, and she is hurt for believing Rose. Cynthia confronts Rose about it and calls her a liar. Rose then begs and pleads with Cynthia not to tell Ella and Seb. She also promises never to steal again.
This causes friction in their relationship. Cynthia sets both Ella and Mide up to have a conversation in the sitting room. There Mide apologises for everything and promises to always trust Ella. They kiss and make up.
Some days later, Rose rushes into the house and locks the door. She also hides a bag of stuff in the sitting room. She then pleads with Cynthia to tell anyone looking for her that she’s not at home and she runs into the bedroom. As Cynthia goes to check the bag, she hears a knock on the door.
A woman with two police officers asks about Rose’s whereabouts. Cynthia gives Rose up by deceiving Rose that she sent the police away.
In the end, Cynthia apologises to her siblings and they have a nice sit-down lunch together with Mide, welcoming him into their family.

It was not the same movie as the first which was both good and bad. Good because they expanded on a side plot but that side plot was not compelling enough to be a movie.
To be honest, I don’t care about their mother like that. I just want to see the couple I watched in Part 1 be front and centre, dealing with real challenges. Them being sidelined in their own story was not the business.
Where TH was Jerry Midiaga? Why wasn’t he in this sequel?
Also, the way they did my boy Michael dirty. That guy was only used as a plot device in this movie after which he was gone forever.
One thing I will keep praising this movie for – part 1 and part 2 – is the sibling dynamic. They really had that down. All three of them act like they are actually related. Even the girls look like they are.
