My Thoughts

This seems like good news but it is really though? I say this because Nigeria is a very corrupt country and the only reason why these boys were arrested is because they stole from a “big man”.

Apart from stealing from a “big man” some of these thieves might have connections to corrupt officials, who could help them to get away with their crimes. So this whole arrest thing might just be one big farce at worst or a small justice in the sea of a bigger problem at best.

It is difficult to say for sure whether the Nigerian Navy and the EFCC are making a difference in the fight against oil theft. However, the fact that the problem persists suggests that their efforts are not enough. More needs to be done to address the root causes of oil theft, such as corruption and poverty.
