It certainly felt that way, but the movie turned out to be
The Synopsis
Elevator Baby tells the story of Dare (Timini Egbuson), a privileged young man with a fiery temper, who got stuck in a faulty elevator with a semi-literate pregnant woman in labour (Toyin Abraham). Dare is left with no choice but to try and save both mother and child. This experience brings him face to face with his inner demons.
Was this film mediocre?
It was slightly above average and had some really good parts to it.
Ms Shaffy Bello’s acting.
Emem Ufot was hilarious
The birth scene was very engaging.
It pulls you in and makes you feel.
They did a great job of laying the foundation of how much a horrible person Dare was.
Perfect plot building. You get to see later on how his behaviour nearly cost him his life.
The visual effects wasn’t the best, but it did its job for the most part. So
Toyin Abraham was good too.
The set design for the elevator was
Would I watch it again?
and here is why.
The entire movie felt rushed. Sure, it worked for some parts, but it still fell flat with others.
In the beginning, why did we move from the driving scene to the club scene?
Why weren’t we shown that they actually changed clubs? Or were we supposed to suspend disbelief?
The part where Dare was at an interview, the scene was divided into three but we only heard “experience” being said twice.
We should have either heard it said thrice or chorused.
The way they went viral was
There wasn’t substantial evidence to show that the video sent by the secretary was enough to elicit public interest.
Where did Timini get the metal pole he was holding later on from?
How did Dr Ajibade get Abigail’s phone number so fast without any message notification?
Why was the elevator so far away when Taju was working on it?
My Verdict
I give Elevator Baby a 3 out of 5. It was very different from the usual Nollywood stories and it was quite entertaining when they got to the meatier scenes.
