JUMIA ANNIVERSARY

Because

I enjoyed every minute of it.

You can too but only if you accept it for what it is: an action-comedy movie, almost like the Fast and Furious series.

So without further ado, let’s review Merry Men 2: Another Mission.

The Synopsis

To save a kidnapped loved one, a pack of wealthy men must return to their vigilante past when they are blackmailed to pull off a treacherous heist.

Netflix

Was this film mediocre?

It was near perfect and this is why:

The opening scene was

The cinematography was

The camera work was out of this freaking world.

The catalytic moment which introduced the conflict was

From the set up to the moment, to that piano score and the parallel fighting scenes

The parallel scenes were

The overall editing was

It transitioned smoothly and made perfect use of slow motion.

The fight choreography was mostly good

The movie’s direction was

Even the mediocre actors shined bright and that is a testament to how good the director was.

The acting was mostly good as well.

It was very smart of the director to give limited speaking parts to those he knew couldn’t act for shit.

The “pre-sex” scene between Falz and Linda Osifo was

Kinda hot.

Would I watch it again?

But that is not to say that this movie was devoid of errors because

Like for instance,

The broken glass CGI when one of the bad guys pushes Mr Ramsey into the pool was

So poor.

When the motorcycles arrived to meet the Merry Men in the garage

It was poorly filmed and dampened the mood they were going for.

What happened to Sophie’s (Nancy Isime) brother?

Were we meant to pretend that he wasn’t lying down poisoned somewhere without being rescued?

Did they really delete the incriminating files on Dame Maduka or they lied that they did?

Also, what about the hard copies?

The EFCD/EFDC boss’ female security personnel called “code red” after she discovered that the other guys were unconscious. How come there was no follow up?

Jim Iyke’s fight scene in the market. We all saw how fake that punch was like come on

My Verdict

I give Merry Men 2: Another Mission a 4.5 out of 5. It is a fun, well-directed, near-perfect writing, editing, acting, you name it. I HIGHLY recommend it. It’s worth every kobo.
